In 1946, after completing his tour of duty with the U.S. Navy, John R. Holt returned to his hometown of Galesburg, Illinois, was employed at a local plumbing wholesale company where he worked in the warehouse and drove a delivery truck. Two years later, he had an opportunity to begin a plumbing apprenticeship, and five years later he rose to be a Journeyman Plumber.

In 1959, Mr. Holt opened his own plumbing contracting company in Galesburg. Twelve years later, he would decide to go full circle, selling his successful contracting company, and return to the plumbing wholesale business.  In 1971, with his devoted wife and nine children at home, John started a very modest wholesale plumbing, heating and air conditioning business.  For the first 14 years, John had built a strong business foundation from its original location in Galesburg.  In 1985, his son, Andy, graduated from the school of business at Creighton University and joined his father in the family business.

Today, Holt Supply Company is celebrating its 35th year in business.  The company is now headquartered in Bloomington, Illinois, and operates within eight locations; six of which are in Illinois, one in Iowa, and one is Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 

Our heritage as a professional grade plumbing, heating, and air conditioning wholesale distributor has kept us close to the installing trade over the years, and much of our showroom business coordinates through the contractor trades.
